China’s first large-scale park-centric commercial complex

Set within a 400,000m² park in Chengdu’s Tianfu New Area CBD the mixed use development establishes what the client terms a “Park Life 3.0” model: nature and retail as a single, inseparable environment.

Park and commerce as one

The masterplan uses the site’s sloping topography to create a dual ground-floor arrangement linking Levels 1 and 3, extending the park’s accessibility into the building’s section and allowing the open landscape to read continuously through the retail floors. Enclosed malls, open retail streets, podiums, and standalone blocks are woven into the park rather than placed beside it, producing a grain and porosity more typical of a city district than a conventional mall.

An interior drawn from classical Chengdu

The interior design takes Tang dynasty poet Li Bai’s vision of Chengdu as its point of departure, a city where trees, clouds, and mountains are woven like brocade, distilling five themes: brocade, rivers, blossoms, mountains, and greenery into distinct spatial zones throughout the building. These run from Drunken Brocade City at basement level through Embroidered River Gateway, Flower-Strewn Path, and Cloud Mountain Pass to the Bamboo Grove corridor, each zone shifting in material, colour, and atmosphere. The main central atrium, spanning Level 3 to Level 5, evokes ascending through mountains and clouds, its layered stepped terraces forming a vertical green landscape for gathering and exploration. A 1,000m² sunlit atrium and a 1,500m² indoor garden enclosed beneath a transparent dome filter natural light year-round, functioning as a greenhouse-like retreat through Chengdu’s grey winter months.
