Two spines, one civic room: a mixed-use block that gives Qianhai back its ground plane.
Benoy co-developed the masterplan and designed the retail podium for CRL MixC Qianhai, a 6.18-hectare mixed-use development at the heart of the Guiwan Business Center District, the scheme sits at the centre of Qianhai’s transformation into a new financial district on the Pearl River Delta. Benoy designed the four-storey retail podium that support a 24-hour live-work-play. Below ground, levels link directly to subway interchanges that connect the development to the wider city.

631,000m²
The masterplan is organised around two intersecting public spines. The Financial Valley runs through the corporate edge of the site; the Green Belt threads landscape and pedestrian routes across it. Where they meet, the design opens into a large outdoor event space that drops below ground and rises through the podium, a vertically connected civic room within an otherwise dense city block. The basement-level outdoor street effectively creates a secondary ground plane, expanding the public realm and bringing daylight and activity to areas that would otherwise be subterranean.
The development is transit-oriented at heart, served by multiple subway lines and designed for pedestrian-first movement between the towers and the surrounding district. Landscape across the podium and terraces supports Shenzhen’s Sponge City stormwater requirements, absorbing rainfall and easing flood load on the city.
