Wayfinding for the residential buildings at Battersea Power Station
The Battersea Power Station redevelopment is one of London’s most significant regeneration projects, the phased transformation of a 42-acre site around the Grade II* listed power station into a mixed-use neighbourhood of residential, retail, cultural, and hospitality uses. The site’s residential buildings, of which Faraday House forms part of the first phase (Circus West), each carry their own distinct architectural character while contributing to a coherent estate. Benoy delivered wayfinding for the residential buildings across the site, working within the specific material and aesthetic constraints of each building while establishing a consistent sign family.
Industrial materiality, refined execution
The wayfinding language responds directly to Battersea’s industrial heritage, a palette of light and dark-toned brass paired with steel finishes creates contrast while maintaining the raw, refined aesthetic that runs through the development’s residential buildings. The proportions of the signage components echo the architectural language of the buildings themselves, creating a thematic consistency between the wayfinding and the architecture it serves, both internally and externally.
