A new airport fire station conceived as a gateway to Jersey International Airport
Benoy was appointed by Ports of Jersey to develop concept proposals for a new airport fire station at Jersey International Airport. The requirement was driven by the current facility approaching end of life and the planned demolition of the adjacent hangar to which it is attached. The new 1,175m² building, plus external works, replaces both functions within a single consolidated volume.

Brief development and operational planning
Benoy consolidated and developed the operational and accommodation brief on behalf of Ports of Jersey, considering both the functional requirements of an airport rescue and firefighting facility and Healthy Firefighter good practice guidelines. The facility comprises an appliance bay and an accommodation block within a single overall volume, with the location of all internal functions carefully considered to achieve an optimum arrangement for response time, operations, and movement through the building.
The station’s position on the airport campus is used to strategic advantage, conceived not only as an operational facility but as a visible gateway element within the airport’s wider setting.
