A fashion-led urban oasis in the heart of Jing’an District
MOHO, at the intersection of Jiangning Road, Changping Road, and North Shaanxi Road in the heart of Jing’an is one of Shanghai’s most prestigious commercial districts and the birthplace of Shanghai-style culture. Developed by Hopson Commercial Group as the first project in its high-end product line, the 180,000m² scheme combines an 80,000m² luxury shopping centre, 50,000m² of office space, and 50,000m² of hotel-style apartments. Benoy was appointed as interior designer.

180,000m²
Trendy luxury, not heavy luxury
MOHO’s positioning is deliberate: where the established commercial complexes on West Nanjing Road are anchored by international luxury brands, MOHO focuses on the latest fashion trends, targeting a younger, culturally engaged audience with over 50 first-to-market brands. The interior design reflects this positioning, drawing on the cultural and architectural heritage of old Jing’an, classic Shanghai red brick tiles, references to the Shikumen lane typology, while integrating contemporary ecological design. The result is a space that balances nostalgia for the neighbourhood’s character with a forward-looking retail identity.
A 24-hour urban oasis
The organising concept is the “24-hour oasis”, a city garden that sustains life beyond the retail hours. Nature is brought into the commercial environment through cascading greenery, natural materials, and spatial sequences designed to create a sense of retreat within the density of Jing’an. The development also carries four original MOHO brands, MOHO BEAUTÉ, MOHO MARCHÉ, IDÉE LABO, and MOHO’s virtual idol mascot, extending the destination’s identity beyond architecture into a broader cultural offer.
