A coastal landmark for Sanya’s CBD
Sanya One sits at the heart of Sanya’s Central Business District, 80 metres from the seafront and adjacent to Phoenix Island. Recognised as a Key Project of Hainan Province for four consecutive years, the development comprises a 300-metre-long, four-storey retail podium and a 120-metre office tower offering 270-degree ocean views. Benoy provided architectural design for both components.
Drawn from the water
The design takes its reference from Sanya’s sailing culture, specifically the moment a boat’s hull meets the water. The office tower rises as a sail above the podium, its form legible from the bay. The podium’s wave-influenced geometry extends this maritime language horizontally, creating a continuous coastal frontage that connects the seafront to the city’s commercial core. The complex is surrounded by a yacht marina, sailing club and luxury hotels, embedding it within Sanya’s established coastal identity.
Programme and sustainability
The retail podium opened with 168 brands, including 25 making their Hainan debut and 23 their Sanya debut, spanning boutique retail, dining, leisure, family and cultural experiences. Rooftop gardens and outdoor terraces extend the public offer vertically, with views across Sanya Bay. Skylights bring natural light into the retail floors; green roofs reduce solar gain; and the infrastructure incorporates stormwater collection, advanced metering and smart control systems to reduce operational energy and water consumption.
