A modern development for an ancient city
VYE is the first of three new neighbourhoods within SODIC’s 500-acre development in New Zayed, West Cairo. Aimed at young families and the next generation of homeowners, the masterplan emphasises outdoor spaces and shared programming to promote community. Community facilities, including co-working spaces, are located at the heart of each residential zone, creating places for residents to exchange ideas, feel connected and find a sense of belonging.

Planning for the future
VYE introduces Cairo’s first solar-powered homes, part of a “Sol” sub-neighbourhood of town and twin homes that maximise energy efficiency, reduce ongoing maintenance costs and provide clean energy. Alongside this, a series of interconnected green spaces is proposed to lower the long-term operational footprint of the development, promote walking and cycling, and reduce reliance on cars.
Climate-responsive landscaping
The landscape design is conceived around a layered greenery strategy, from private gardens and semi-public residential green space through to parks and play areas serving all ages. Tree planting provides shade and creates a cooler environment for residents, while a rich palette of native and drought-tolerant species reduces overall irrigation requirements.
