The world’s largest indoor theme park

Ferrari World is both an architectural landmark and a brand expression, establishing Yas Island as one of the world’s foremost motorsport destinations. At the heart of Benoy’s concept masterplan for Yas Island, the theme park was conceived as a bold, instantly recognisable symbol, opening with the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Spanning 700m end-to-end, with a central dome of 300m diameter, Ferrari World has acted as the catalyst for the Yas Island’s continued development, drawing over 30 million visitors annually and earning more than 65 regional and international accolades.

Architecture inspired by a motorsport icon

The design took direct inspiration from the distinctive double curves on Ferrari’s iconic GT chassis. That shape translates into the sweeping, aerodynamic roof finished in Ferrari red, giving the building an instantly recognisable form that honours Ferrari’s design DNA. An insulated metal skin and efficient glazing reduce thermal loads and glare throughout.

Mindful of the building being viewed from all angles, both in person and from the air during televised races, the design team conceived the form as a low, ground-hugging structure that reads as a giant red sand dune, complementing the desert landscape while standing out unmistakably in aerial views during race broadcasts.

“It is a great testament of Abu Dhabi’s capacity, and the region’s potential, as a world-class tourist destination.”

Benoy’s Yas Island concept masterplan established the contextual relationship between the key leisure component, water and theme park to the west, stadia and performance venues to the east, residential parks to the north and Ferrari World in the south, all aligned with the racetrack facilities at the island’s core.
