A mixed-use destination integrating commercial and civic life in Shenzhen’s Nanshan district
Raffles City Shenzhen is a 307,500m² mixed-use development in the Nanshan district, one of Shenzhen’s most active creative and commercial zones. Developed by CapitalLand, the scheme integrates retail, office, residential, and hotel uses within a commercial complex that opens directly onto approximately 90,000m² of adjacent urban parkland, making the relationship between the built development and the public landscape central to the design concept. Benoy was appointed to deliver architecture, interior design, and commercial design for the project.

An organic design responding to geography
The design draws from the surrounding geographical forms of the Nanshan district, its hillside topography and proximity to Shenzhen Bay, translating these into an organic architectural language that connects the development to its setting rather than imposing a standardised commercial typology on the site. The masterplan links the development into the fabric of the city, with retail and entertainment facilities at ground level designed to draw visitors from across Shenzhen and encourage a continuous flow of people through the district throughout the day.
A one-stop destination
Raffles City Shenzhen brings together dining, shopping, and lifestyle uses in a format designed to serve both the Nanshan district’s resident and working population and visitors from further afield. The development is directly connected to the Shenzhen metro network, reinforcing its role as a transit-oriented commercial destination within a rapidly developing part of the city.
