Interior design for the first Time Out Market in Canada
Time Out Market Montréal, within the Centre Eaton de Montréal on Sainte-Catherine Street West, is the first Time Out Market in Canada and one of the brand’s flagship locations globally. Housed within the renovated Eaton Centre, the 3,700m² space anchors a transformation of one of downtown Montréal’s most prominent retail assets. Benoy was appointed to deliver the interior design for the market.

Heritage and the soft-industrial aesthetic
The design draws on the heritage of the Time Out brand, founded in London in 1968 as a guide to the best of city life, and translates it into an interior language appropriate to the Montréal context. An understated soft-industrial palette creates a mood suited to the market’s extended hours, shifting from a daytime food destination to an evening entertainment venue. The space is organised around a large central atrium beneath a skylight, with restaurants, bars, and cultural spaces arranged around the perimeter in an open, legible format.
Programme
Time Out Market Montréal brings together 16 food offerings by some of the city’s leading chefs and restaurateurs, alongside three bars, a demonstration kitchen, a cooking school, a retail shop, and a performance space for local talent, a programme that positions the market as a cultural destination as much as a dining one.
