An experience-led shopping ‘theme park’

Starfield Hanam combines retail boutiques and large department stores alongside a world-leading sports experiences centre and an aquatic club and spa. Described by Time Out as a shopping theme park, the mall is a social place where people can partake in a wide-ranging suite of entertainment, reflecting a broader shift in the retail landscape towards more interactive, immersive experiences. In its first full year, the destination drew 10 million visitors.

Something for everyone

Set within the popular city of Hanam, 30 minutes from Gangnam, the complex was designed to attract and easily accommodate high volumes of shoppers and visitors. Three key markets shaped the design — families, teenagers and high-end shoppers — with distinctive areas distributed across four levels to suit each audience and intuitively channel circulation.

A sweeping skylight

Set beside an expansive lake and sweeping mountains, Starfield Hanam is the second largest shopping centre in South Korea, serving as both tourist attraction and local amenity. To embrace the picturesque setting and flood the mall with natural light, floor-to-ceiling windows combine with a sweeping skylight, the largest in the country. The result is a bright, expansive space that maintains a connection to the outdoors.
