Mike Wilson-MacCormackExecutive Director Newark

Mike Wilson-MacCormack joined Benoy in 1994, directly from his architectural studies at the University of Nottingham, and has spent his career at the studio. He was made a Director in 2004 and joined the board as Executive Director in 2025, leading the studio's design teams. He worked on Bluewater in the late 1990s, the project that established the studio's approach of designing from the position of the end user rather than the floorplate, and his work since has been shaped by it. He led the design of Westfield London, 120,000sqm of retail and leisure across 280 shops and 47 restaurants on 16 hectares of brownfield land, and has since worked at district scale on Bahrain Marina, a 300,000sqm waterfront quarter in Manama. At InOrbit Visakhapatnam the scheme was planned around a dozen mature trees the team chose to retain, which now sit at the centre of the project. His view is that the space between buildings is often where the value sits, and that a brief worth having is one the design team is willing to question. Mike has chaired the jury for the RIBA Regional Awards and teaches at the University of Nottingham.
